Where we're going from here...


Yarnmaster is, as indicated, a work in progress. The next thing I plan to tackle is referee advice (specifically NPCs/monsters). I'm working with an eye toward keeping rules light and a lot of referee guidance has already been baked into the system core with that in mind, but the area above deserves, I think, a special call out. 

Further, there will (at some point) be advice for the referee on adjudicating character action past what is already present in the document, largely drawn from my own experience running games over the years (actions with a guaranteed outcome aren't rolled for, characters are free to attempt pretty much anything not prohibited by the natural laws of the game world, etc). Just sage advice, nothing mechanical. 

Finally, you may note that there aren't any rules for character advancement. That's deliberate at the moment and, honestly, I'm not sure that there will be rules for advancement. In keeping with Yarnmaster's design goals, zero to hero leveling isn't really a thing. Characters should, I think, be known by the measure of their deeds, not the measure of their experience points.
